It’s really cool the be part of the first or last of something. Recently my band Yuki Yuki Yasumi played the first Monday night show on the third floor at Molly Maguires in Phoenixville, and now we’ve been invited to play the last 228 Productions Wednesday night show at P.J Ryans, also in Phoenixville, PA. Since “Yuki” has played the underground numerous times, I wanted to share some memories.
7-7-10: This was the first Yuki show in which I wore girl’s clothes. I wore my red and black Gothic Lolita skirt. It was kind of a bizarre way of celebrating loosing a bunch of weight, I guess I have pretty bizarre way of celebrating stupid things. I can’t say I like this performance, which makes me wonder why I shared it it with the world on YouTube???? I got drunk, couldn’t hear myself through the “house” sound system, sung off key a lot. Come to think of it, most Underground performances were kind of like that.
1-19-2011: This gig marked the first Yuki (hybrid) set… Hybrid is what we call it when Nate and I play to backing track of the album. I know a lot of “true” musicians think this is “cheating,” but you try it. It’s really hard and “unforgiving” to play like this. I can’t help feeling like nate I are like some bizarre Cheech and Chongin this video. Remember in Up In Smoke when Cheech comes out on stage with Micky Mouse ears and a tutu? That’s sort of how I feel with my Cat Ears and Schoolgirl uniform. I have to learn how to dance, my movements are so awkward.
4-20-11: My most recent experience at the Underground involved seeing Karma Bat’s final performance. This for me embodied the spirit of the Underground. It was dark and dim, the lights were low, the beer was cheap, the wings were covered with teriyaki sauce… it was a perfect atmosphere for fun punk rock.
What does the last Underground Show hold in store? A lot of bands. A lot of energy, and I can at least guarantee some unpredictably… it’s going to be a lot of fun!~ Yuki
I was out grocery shopping last night. I saw that Giant had raised the price of my Greek Yogurt by 17 cents, so I refused to buy any, then I proceeded to spend 40 dollars on stuff I had no intention of buying when I first walked into the store. I ended up seeing this odd egg-shaped thing called “MiO,” and I immediately started thinking about my second-favorite K-ON! girl, Mio Akiyama. (Can you guess my favorite?)… Anyway, I really wanted to pick up the berry-pomegranate one, but ended up grabbing the peach tea, by mistake… It’s not bad, but I wanted the pomegranate, so I guess I’ll have to buy another… and they are 4 freaking dollars, which is a lot for a product of it’s nature. I’m willing to bet the pomegranate makes a banging pomegranate-margarita.
I’m trying to stay awake… so I can adjust back to my 1st shift schedule for work/school, however, I find myself unable to do anything productive. It’s basically just watch Hetalia on Netflix, refuse to put on pants in front of relatives, play video games, drink coffee, and search for my phone charger.
I had a mimosa, and it died back in the fall. I kept the pot with “Miyuki” in it for a few months even though all that was left was a brown stem sticking out of the dirt. Why does this come up randomly? Because I kind of told myself that I would give growing mimosa another try when the spring came around, I can’t believe it’s half way through April already.
Stop My Heart (Chiptune remix)
Okay, this songs a lot like the remix of Stop My Heart I posted in September, but I’ve been holding on to it since them. This is actually the version of the remixes that I like the best, enjoy.
Lyrics “Stop My Heart” by Yuki Yuki Yasumi:
Chasing you around was half the fun.
All this love, a little effort to show I was the one.
Who would be there when the sun goes down,
At the end of the night, When they’ve all left town.
Playing the game, is never the same.
Superego too lame. Miniskirts too tame.
Let me in front the rain, I’ll show you this hole.
In my heart, since you stopped returning my calls.
Was I uncool Always playing the fool.
Always breaking the rules, I was such a tool.
To think something superficial would last.
THat’s that. Whatever. It’s in the past.
-
I’ll never forget the day you stopped my heart.
In it’s tracks. It’s a fact, but I’ll never look back.
I’ll never forget the night you tore our love into two.
It’s a shame, yeah, but what you gonna do
I’m gonna hop the first train out of town.
All around, I feel the wind behind me.
And even though my love was always true,
I cannot let this one momment define me.
Chocolate and flowers almost everyday.
Draining me, in every way, but what you gonna say.
I wasn’t there enough enought to make you stay.
But it’s not the first time. Baby, it’s okay.
Playing the part, didn’t work from the start.
You were just too smart, to see through my heart.
I still taste the fear, when your getting near.
Thumping in my ear, don’t know what I’m gonna hear.
Was I nothing, only playing the friend,
Just a means to an end, only playing pretend.
To think a girl like you would fall,
In love with me, most naive of all.
I want you, I need you. I’ll never let you go.
You take me, You break me, I guess it goes to show.
I want you, I need you. I’ll never let you go.
You take me, You break me, I guess it goes to show.
Every Tear That You Wipe Away (Live) (remix for November 2010)
This is a special treat. Every Tear That You Wipe Away is a ballad off of Devoured By Japanese Schoolgirls, The first Yuki Yuki Yasumi CD. This live mix is much “heavier” than the album version.
Lyrics:
I couldn’t help but to be senseless. In the momment of your distress. Sometimes It’s so hard to find the words to say. If I’d have know I’d been so selfish, I might have saw you drowning helpless; but, I wasn’t the one there to save the day.
It’s now obvious, I see Your eyes belong to him, not me, But if you ever change your mind, You’ll know where I’ll be.
Diving for every tear that you wipe away. Waiting to catch you when you fall. If shall ever come the day. Standing by every moment that you slip away. Won’t make the same mistakes again. If you ever come my way.
It’s true that my thoughts were careless. This vanity makes me powerless. I thought that a song could sweap you away. When all you wanted was my presence. I was infactuated by your essence, but, I wasn’t there for you day by day.
I’m hoping and waiting. Despite the fact that despair consumes me .Looking for answers, Despite the fact that I am getting nowhere. I’m Looking for answers, In all the wrong places. Somehow i’m still convinced. That you’ll come back when you see me… (fall).
This is a special treat. After posting chiptune remixes up for the last two months, I figured I’d do something different. This month it’s a live recording of S.O.S. Natsu Yasumi which is the second song on Devoured By Japanese Schoolgirls.
Lyrics
S.O.S. (夏休み)
How can I brave another morning tuned in to her resonance? How can I carry on, never again to return to innocence? In this still frame, a schetching of your madness It’s all you ever wanted. It’s all that’s crumbling.
I can see them floating around me. In this fading out existence. I can hear them cheering for me. I think I’m going to change (the world).
ハルヒ, can’t you see the walls aare falling? Are we just your playthings? Can’t you hear us calling? But, I won’t let melancholy spoil my 夏休み.
The words seem to bleed the walls dry of every emotion. I’m falling through. I’m falling. There’s nothing left to do. So much for friends, so much for boredom, so much for time, now it’s gone. Now she’s gone, but I’m not ready to move on.
But I won’t let melancholy spoil my 夏休み. 僕たち の 恋 いつ まで も… I’m never going to break your heart. I’m going to shadder illusion with just one kiss.
Yuki’s remix for September 2010:
Steampunk Loli (Chiptune Mix):
Few things rarely ever get commisioned in black and white,
and never on these upper driven shibuya nights,
stage fright comes at the cost of…
corsettes for petty coats, petty cab drivers, got my samo, hung..
for a sample of far eastern tounge.
I know you’re too stong to be a wind up doll,
so I hope you wind me, are you masochistic enough to let me ?
Become a sick ephagy of our own growtesque fantasies.
Star anisees… wormwood induced lucidities.
Placate my inhibitions, and feed my dark obsessions.
My steampunk loli…. ba dop ba dop ba dop bop ba bop…
Her overt innocence masking her latent domanance
I never want to let her go…
I’ll living in a maze of contidictions, with the scent of lemony-fresh fan-fictions.
Embracing an ethos without no conviction.
In pursuit of leather and lace and flesh between, your carnal inspiration. an over night sensation.
Sometimes these, our fetishes come up in general conversation.
But never for too long. It isn’t polite, but how shall I begin with the odor of bathtub gin,
Ushering in another liquid breakfast sin.
Yet here I stand at the turnstile, with the ticket in my hand.
Looking down at my swollen feet, dancing all by myself.
I look down at my pocket watch, but time has rusted still.
yet, Still I want you.
I’ll never forget the way you stopped my heart, in it’s tracks,
It’s a fact, but I’ll never look back…
I’ll never forget the night you tore our love into two…
It’s a shame, yeah, but what you gonna do?
Stop My Heart (special mix)
Over the course of the next year or longer, I will release a free remix of my music every month. This is a great way to “collect” a free Yuki Yuki Yasumi album over a long period of time. I said I would release my first remix in August, and it’s all ready September 4th. I will be hosting all my free mp3s on the official Yuki Yuki Yasumi site, but right now, due to programming/design issues I’ll post the latest remix here, and archive it to the Yuki site later, when I figure out just exactly what I am doing.
Anyway about the song: “Stop My Heart” is my most remixed song. Every time I get a new toy (keyboard, software pack, instrument, etc), one of the first ways I test it is to remix this little song. Since I have dozens of these remixes I will try to space them out over a period of time.
So what is special about this remix?: I got inspired to make it after someone “Liked” a quote (an excerpt of lyrics from the song) I posted on Facebook. This remix was specially made for that one person, who clicked “like.”
Overall, it’s not my favorite mix of the song, but it does feature some nifty elements unique to other versions of the song such as a dance driven double-bass drum rhythm. I would suggest that fans of the Eurobeat genre of music give this song a listen. The original version of the song can be heard on Myspace, I-like, and the album can be purchased from a number of retailers, including cdbaby.

Wow, a Yuki AMV! And to Ikkitousen Dragon Destiny nonetheless! I definitely think my music goes along well with sexy anime girls fighting each other (and tearing off each other’s clothes in the process). I’d love to see a fan do an AMV for SOS (夏休み) done to Haruhi Suzumiya, considering that’s what I wrote the song about.
